Madison County K-12 Students Ride MCT for Just $15 a Month

GRANITE CITY, ILL., AUGUST 27, 2012 . . . Madison County students in the Kindergarten through 12th grade now have the opportunity to purchase a Madison County Transit (MCT) Monthly Pass for just $15 a month, during the school year. Beginning in September, the “MCT Student Monthly Pass” provides unlimited rides each calendar month (September through May) on MCT Shuttle, MCT Cross County, and MCT Regional routes. MCT Student Monthly Passes for September are on sale now. “Last year, Student Monthly Pass boardings accounted for more than 13,000 rides on MCT buses during the school year,” said MCT Managing Director Jerry Kane. “This pass program creates access for Madison County students to classes, after-school activities, co-op programs and jobs.”

MCT Student Monthly Passes can be purchased in three ways:
Individuals purchasing the pass by mail or in person should also include the student’s name, school, grade and name of a parent or guardian. Students may be asked to show a school ID when riding MCT with the Student Monthly Pass. The equivalent fare media, the MCT Local Monthly Pass, is available for adults at $40 a month. For details on the Student Monthly Pass, visit or call 618-797-INFO (4636).
