Groundbreaking for New MCT Eastgate Park and Ride Facility
Madison County Transit (MCT) will host a brief groundbreaking and photo op for the construction of a new MCT Eastgate Park and Ride Facility.
Monday, November 23, 2020, 1:00 p.m.
MCT Board of Directors and staff; East Alton Mayor Joe Silkwood; other elected officials; and members of the Crause/Kennedy family, owners of Eastgate Plaza.
General Contractor: Bruce Unterbrink Construction
Sub-Contractors: MC Electric, Kane Mechanical, Groundworks, and Becker Masonry
Design Team: Oates Associates, Arcturis, BRiC Partnership, and Faith Group
2-acre site south of Eastgate Plaza (101 Eastgate Plaza) on IL-3 in East Alton, Ill.
The $1.6 million facility will feature commuter parking, a passenger waiting building, driver restrooms, and video surveillance.
Nearby Eastgate Plaza is one of the most popular park & ride locations on the #1X Riverbend Express, which operates to and from Downtown St. Louis. The site will also serve the #1 Riverbend operating between Alton and Granite City.
Madison County Transit (MCT) provides multi-modal transportation services for Madison County, Illinois. MCT operates a fixed-route bus service,
connecting to MetroLink; express weekday commuter service directly to and from downtown St. Louis; and seasonal express service to the Muny.
For elderly and disabled residents who are unable to use the fixed-route buses, MCT provides complementary door to door service. MCT is also
responsible for the construction and maintenance of more than 137 miles of bikeways that comprise the MCT Trails system, as well as overseeing RideFinders, the St. Louis region’s FREE
carpooling and vanpooling program.
