MCT IMPROVES BUS SERVICE IN THE ALTON AREA
Service Changes Effective May 9, 2010
GRANITE CITY, ILL., APRIL 26, 2010 . . . In an effort to provide improved bus service in the Alton area, Madison County Transit (MCT) will
make route and schedule adjustments, effective Sunday, May 9, 2010, as part of its regular May service change. The changes are outlined below:
- Greater Access in the Neighborhoods will be provided as MCT extends hourly service, Monday – Friday on the #8 Central Shuttle to serve the Wallace, Johnson
and Riley neighborhoods from Central, including the new 84-unit Alton Pointe Apartments on Riley.

Senior Services Plus: MCT will provide two trips daily on the #9 Washington Shuttle to the center. Service will operate Monday – Friday, providing Alton
seniors with access to meals, programs and services.
- Alton Amtrak Station: Five trips on the #11 Brown Shuttle will serve the Amtrak Station, Monday – Friday. Buses will pull into Kendall from College to
pickup and drop off passengers in front of the depot.
Also in May, MCT will adjust the route of the #1 Riverbend in the Village of Hartford; in Granite City, MCT will extend trips into the Madison County Employment
Training Center Offices at River’s Edge on the #2 Granite City Shuttle; and make minor schedule changes to the #19 Edwardsville – Collinsville.
Schedule adjustments will also be made to MCT Express and MCT Regional routes, including the #1X Riverbend Express, the #3X Gateway Commerce Center Express,
the #5 Tri-City Regional, the #12X Bethalto Express, the #14X Highland Express, the #16X Edwardsville Express, the #18 Collinsville Regional and the #18X
Collinsville Express.
New bus route schedules dated ‘May 9, 2010’ are available on any MCT bus, at MCT transfer stations, at distribution locations throughout Madison County, and

Madison County Transit (MCT) enhances the mobility of the St. Louis region by providing multi-modal transportation services. MCT operates a fixed-route
